NEW BRITAIN — The Opportunities Industrialization Center of New Britain has a few events planned for the future, but before it looks too far ahead, the center needs some support.
It will be holding a Halloween Party Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the OIC building, located at 114 North St. Anyone can attend the event by making a $10 donation to OIC.
The Halloween party will help fund all programs at OIC and will also help cover a couple of Thanksgiving events to be held in November.
Every year the program holds a Thanksgiving banquet for the youth in the Hardware City Bicycle program and the Moving Mountain program. Both campaigns put at-risk youth in work situations.
The program also runs an annual can drive from Nov. 7 to 22, for which people are asked to bring in a canned good.
OIC is also looking to add a new event this year.
“We want to do a Thanksgiving event for parents as well,” said Paulette Fox, executive director of OIC.
She plans to have a formal dinner for the parents. There is no date set for the dinner yet.
In addition to the fall festivities, the Hardware City Bicycle program is looking for sponsors for BMX racing, in which students in the program participate each year.
