SOUTHINGTON — Sandeep Jagini and Nick Modi have been friends since they attended dental school in India together in 1998. After working as doctors in India for a few years, they both moved to the United States where they were college roommates at Boston University.

Now, in 2011, Jagini and Modi are opening up Horizon Dental, a new dental office located at 685 Queen St. in Southington, on Dec. 22.

“We wanted to have our own place and not be dependent on an employer,” Jagini said.

Jagini and Modi are both comfortable with treating patients of any age and can do procedures ranging from root canals to cosmetic bonding to teeth extractions.

“We can do a lot of things under one roof,” Jagini said.

While at BU, Jagini specialized in implants, which are often used to help keep dentures in place or for someone who is missing a single tooth.

The office accepts most insurance providers and accepts medicaid for both children and adults, which Jagini said is uncommon.

“I know they’re not going to pay me much,” Jagini said, adding, “I don’t care. I just want to do my service.”

Jagini added that the office will try to enroll in any insurance provider a patient might have that they are not already contracted with.

Additionally, the office will treat patients who do not have insurance. In fact, it is offering 30 to 40 percent off on all dental procedures for the first 90 days.

“We’re just trying to be very reasonable with everything,” Jagini said.

In the first 60 days, the office will offer free consultations for a specific problem that will include one biting x-ray. There is also a special price of $69 for an exam, dental cleaning and four biting x-rays for 60 days. Finally, the office is offering 25 percent off on dental implant procedures.

The office will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Later appointments on nights and weekends can be scheduled when needed. Walk-ins are also available for emergency and non-emergency care.

Although the office will not be open until Dec. 22, they are already taking appointments. To contact the office call 860-863-5831 and for more information visit http://www.horizondentalct.com.
