NEW BRITAIN — A new hibachi restaurant will be opening downtown adjacent to La Quinta Inn and Suites later than expected due to Tropical Storm Irene and snowstorm Alfred.
“I firmly believe it will be between now and the new year,” said William Carroll, business development coordinator for the New Britain Chamber of Commerce. He later added, “I know they are running behind schedule.”
Carroll said that construction has been under way, which included putting in new flooring and deciding on the layout.
Carroll said he believes restaurant owner Michael Zhang is still working on acquiring licensing to serve alcohol. He estimates the Hibachi and Sushi Buffet will create about 20 to 25 jobs in New Britain.
